General Information
Waar is officially the highest grossing Pakistani film in
all of time. Inspired by true events, the movie provides a new fresh perspective
on the current situation Pakistan is facing. This film is a 2013 Urdu English language.
A Pakistani action thriller, and drama directed
by Bilal Lashari. The film’s title “ Waar” is an Urdu language meaning “
to strike”. This movie took about 3 years to fully complete.
Summary
The movie is based on a stylized portrayal of actual life
events neighbouring the war on terror in Pakistan. Majtaba is a former army
officer, who retired early. Terrorism activates in the northwestern tribal region,
directed by the characters Ehtesham, and coordinated by a genius mastermind
Ayesha. Ehtesham, and Ayesha come to where about a huge terrorist attack, that
can only be dealt with the help of major Mujtaba.

Waar has earned over Rs200,145,809 in only five weeks of
screening. The film was released on 53
screens, at 35 cinemas all across Pakistan on Eidul Azha. This movie has
benefited from an exponential increase of numbers of screens over the past
year. The advent of multiplexes, doubled the ticket price fomr Rs150 to
R350. Provincial distribution of business:
Punjab 57%, Sindh 35%, Islamabad 8%.
